post holiday

I’m adjusting to regular life after a trip with extended family that ended up being a bit more adventurous than expected due to vehicle failure, a train strike and more. We made it out to Cornwall to visit a group of our friends who usually get together annually to do metalwork and other traditional crafts and though I didn’t get to cast anything in bronze this year I did weave a willow basket (and got some guidance on coppicing), made a chain mail bracelet, got a lesson on tanning salmon skin, did some knife throwing, helped pressing apples to keep our supply of apple juice flowing, carved these two little bowls out of wood rescued from the burn pile (our meals were all cooked over an open fire, the bowl on the left is elm, the right laburnum), and got to hear more of Clive Pig’s storytelling one night.
